Kao Nunez

SFX MAKEUP ARTIST

My career started as a freelance makeup artist in 2017. I went to both makeup and cosmetology school in California and received my diploma in makeup artistry and California State Cosmetology license. In 2018, I was recognised and honored with a Los Angeles Film Award for Best Makeup for one of the short films that I worked on as a Key Makeup Artist.

I am still new to the film industry but I continue to follow my passion and try to improve my skills every day.

  1. Believe in your craft, you should not compare yourself to others. It is a very competitive field and can get overwhelmed easily but try to focus on what you can do and think positive.
  2. Knowing makeup products and skin types is very important as a makeup artist. Study all skin types and what products would be the best for your clients.
  3. Practice makeup on your self or a mannequin head a lot or ask your friends to be a makeup model and try to build your portfolio.
